GREETINGS FROM THE VAIL FAMILY REUNION COMMITTEE

We ALL GRIEVE for the departure of our Beloved and Honored Cousin & Mentor, GENERAL NATHAN COLUMBUS VAIL, who died on Saturday, May 9, 2015 in Dallas, Texas.

We will always Love & Cherish his memory and are Blessed beyond words for the love, support, and commitment he felt, and the inspiration he tirelessly gave for OUR VAIL FAMILY. THE VAIL FAMILY and THESE SPECIAL REUNION GATHERINGS meant a great deal to him. It was his vision to Bind our Group in Love & Harmony, to Honor the Past, to be Proud of our Heritage and to INSPIRE OUR YOUTH with the Values & Integrity that made our people strong and responsible citizens, to the GLORY OF GOD.  It is with this Passion that our remaining Committee joined hearts, heads and hands to go forward in planning THE BEST POSSIBLE REUNION .TO MAKE HIM PROUD & FOR YOUR PLEASURE!

George Haislip, our Vail Family Researcher, has done an OUTSTANDING JOB of uncovering some valuable information and setting up Sites and Places to Visit. The Best news is that his presentation to the Cultural Arts Commission and the Dept. of Transportation for a MARKER for BRIG. GEN EDWARD VAIL, HAS BEEN APPROVED. While the actual Marker will not be ready for Unveiling until sometime in October, George will have a mock Marker for us to see and the Exact Location to Visit during the Saturday afternoon Tours.  Also, he has lined up two interesting speakers for both Saturday morning Business Session and Saturday Evening Dinner Event, who will bring valuable historical information.

Holly Scarborough, our Secretary, has been working on beautiful Binders for the occasion, with all the pertinent information for the Reunion. Also, she has been taking Registrations and will include (in this email) a list of those currently registered. There are several groups that plan to come, but not listed, so let her know your intentions. Contact her at banjoboytroy@gmail.com, or 757-279-0118 (Home) or 757-869-6623 (Cell) or send her your registration information to 109 Sherwood Lane Smithfield, VA 23430. Send your $50 registration checks to Kent Vail: 6646 Brookside Ct., Bealeton, VA 22712. Also, The HAMPTON INN, Edenton, has a few rooms left ON RESERVE FOR OUR GROUP, but they will no longer be reserved AFTER JUNE 9th, 2015. Contact them at 252-482-3500, and mention the VAIL FAMILY REUNION GROUP. They are letting us use their Meeting Room for our Hospitality & Business Events as a courtesy.

We have a DELICIOUS DINNER lined up for Saturday night at a recently opened venue, The Table, at INNERBANKS INN & RESTAURANT. I have negotiated a set price of $25 per person (PAID IN ADVANCE to Holly). We will subsidize the Tax & Tip from our Reunion Dues to make it desirable for everyone. They have a Full Service Bar, so Special Drinks will be ON YOUR OWN. Check out the MENU INCLUDED IN THIS MESSAGE. Hope yall will bring your musical instruments to do some Pickin & Playin on the Porch.

We will be having a MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR BOTH ROY A. VAIL & NATHAN C. VAIL at the Saturday morning Business Session, conducted by VAIL ELLIS; also, a Report on the ROY A. VAIL SCHOLARSHIP.

These are just a FEW HIGHLIGHTS OF THE REUNION WEEKEND. REVIEW ALL THE ATTACHMENTS FOR DETAILS. Let me know if you have OTHER IDEAS OR SUGGESTIONS. We will DO OUR BEST TO ACCOMMODATE.

Sending heartfelt Love & Blessings,

Janice Atkinson Cutchin, Acting President

(Descendant, James Taylor Vail)
